About

Spirit of the Wilderness is an unusually progressive Christian community, worshiping weekly at Maple Hill Church. We are congregation-led, clergy supported.

We are a small but mighty congregation of inclusive and open-minded spiritual explorers, committed to radical inclusion, social justice and truth-seeking.

We are deeply embedded in our community, feeding people, facilitating feeding schemes and providing a discretionary fund for Cook County Health and Human Services, for example.

As involved as we are here in Cook County, we are also part of the Episcopal Church, a national and international community, giving us a broader vision. Together we are committed to Inviting Mystery, Embracing Compassion, and Encountering Christ.
